MA, RCC Therapist, EFAP
Cristina has been a member of the Employee & Family Assistance Program (EFAP) Team since July 2002, offering individual, couple and group psychotherapy.
Education & Training
Cristina holds a Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of British Columbia. She has been counselling in a number of different settings since the mid 1980’s.
Areas of Expertise
Cristina has worked with adults and adolescents offering individual, group and relationship counselling. Her many years spent working on a multidisciplinary team in a psychiatric outpatient clinic have prepared her to deal with a wide range of conditions, from crisis intervention to working with people who have more chronic, long standing difficulties.
"Personal and interpersonal challenges, even crises, are an opportunity to learn more about ourselves and to expand our repertoire of responses to the world that surrounds us. The process of identifying and understanding our thoughts and feelings can bring new light to our circumstances. Being able to recognize our options is essential to making the healthiest choices."
Cristina works primarily from a psychodynamic perspective, but also incorporates the principles of self-psychology, client centered therapy, and cognitive therapy into her clinical work.
Cristina’s early experiences have included working with adults and adolescents in conflict with the law, as well as with seniors within the Italian Canadian Community who were in need of social assistance. She worked for several years in Day House, an intensive group psychotherapy program, followed by seven years as a therapist in an Adult Outpatient Psychiatric Clinic, offering psychiatric assessments and follow-up through individual, group and couple therapy.
